Despite the court orders against imemrsion of POP Ganesh idols, and CPCB guidelines in place, State government continues to allow pollution of Hussain Sagar lake for Ganesh immersion.

Hyderabad: The city police have rejected requests from various media outlets and online content creators for covering the Ganesh festivities using camera-mounted drones during the immersion. The authorities have cited security and privacy concerns as the reason for the denial of permission.

The Hyderabad police further cited that the use of drones can be a threat to the public in densely crowded areas if a malfunction occurs.

The police encouraged media personnel to cover the Ganesh festivities using traditional methods instead of flying drones. News channels and social media platforms were advised not to submit further applications for drone permits.

Hyderabad is preparing for a grand Ganesh immersion on September 17. The celebration’s highlight is the Khairtabad Ganesh, India’s tallest Ganesh idol at 70 feet. This idol draws thousands of visitors each year and will be immersed in Hussain Sagar on the eleventh day of Vinayaka Chaturthi.

The city’s police force is trying to put its best efforts to ensure the festival is conducted safely and without any difficulties. The police have released traffic restrictions during the day of idol immersion.

After depositing Rs 18,000 crore into the loan accounts of 14.45 lakh farmers at the public meeting held at Wyra on Thursday, Revanth Reddy and his entourage demand Harish Rao's resignation as MLA.

Hyderabad: Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy on Sunday exuded confidence that the Congress party will win another term in power in the state.

Asserting that the 2029 elections would be “final”, he said the Congress party would win this final after making Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister.

Revanth Reddy was speaking after handing over the charge as the president of Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee (TPCC) to Bomma Mahesh Kumar Goud.

At a programme held at the party’s state headquarters Gandhi Bhavan, Mahesh Goud took charge from Revanth Reddy, who had been holding the post of TPCC president for last three years.

Stating that as the TPCC president he fought on behalf of the people for 38 months, Revanth Reddy said the central leadership entrusted the responsibility to Mahesh Goud with a lot of hopes.

The Chief Minister said elections held so far and the success achieved was semifinal and the party would win the final in 2029 after making Rahul Gandhi the Prime Minister.

He mentioned that since 1994, every party won two successive elections in the state and exuded confidence that Congress would come to power for second term.

Revanth Reddy said the performance of Congress government during last nine months shows that Congress delivers whatever it promises.

He recalled that Rahul Gandhi had promised waiver of crops loans of up to Rs 2 lakh in Warangal declaration and within six months after coming to power the promise was fulfilled.

The Chief Minister said farmers who have loans of more than Rs 2 lakh should not worry.

He also said that 85 crore women have availed the free bus travel scheme in the state so far.

Revanth Reddy said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government had imposed burden on women by increasing the price of cooking gas cylinder but the Congress government in the state is supplying cylinder for only Rs 500.

Mahesh Kumar Goud suggested that at least two ministers visit Gandhi Bhavan every week. He said justice should be done to workers who come to Gandhi Bhavan with hopes and expectations.

Stating that even small regional parties have offices in districts, the new TPCC president called for building Congress party offices in districts.

Before taking charge, Mahesh Goud reached Gandhi Bhavan in a rally from Telangana Martyrs’ Memorial at Gun Park.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka, ministers and senior leaders Uttam Kumar Reddy, Ponnam Prabhakar, AICC in-charge Deepa Dasmunshi, government advisor and former minister Mohammed Ali Shabbir congratulated Goud on being appointed as TPCC president.

All India Congress Committee (AICC) president Mallikarjun Kharge on September 6 appointed Mahesh Goud as the new president.

Before being appointed TPCC president, Mahesh Goud was the working president.

Mahesh Goud succeeded Revanth Reddy, who has been holding the dual posts since being sworn in as the Chief Minister on December 7, 2023.

Deepa Dasmunshi called for effective coordination between the government and the party. She said the party should take to people the work done by the Congress government during the last nine months.

The AICC in-charge said coming elections to local bodies were a big challenge for the party and asked party leaders and workers to gear up for this.

Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the Congress leaders, despite facing harassment and false cases during the 10 years of BRS rule, worked hard to bring Congress to power.

He said the Congress government was committed to fulfilling all the guarantees. He listed out the guarantees already implemented by the government.

He mentioned that the government is giving Rs 400 crore to the State Road Transport Corporation to implement the scheme for free bus travel by women.

He claimed that the government is creating wealth for people and distributing it among them.

Uttam Kumar Reddy said the Congress came to power due to hard work and sacrifices by the party workers. He claimed that Mahesh Goud’s appointment shows the importance the party attaches to social justice.

CM Revanth to unveils Rajiv Gandhi's statue

Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy will unveil the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on Monday, September 16, in front of the state Secretariat in Hyderabad. This event comes amid ongoing political tensions between the ruling Congress and the main opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) which has been opposing it.

Telangana transport and BC welfare minister Ponnam Prabhakar has urged Congress leaders to actively contribute to the success of the statue unveiling event.

In August, a verbal clash erupted between chief minister Revanth Reddy and BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) after Revanth announced plans to erect the statue of Rajiv Gandhi in front of the Secretariat. The site had originally been designated for the Telangana Thalli statue by the previous BRS government, and the isse led to a heated exchange between the two leaders.

The announcement did not go well with the BRS with KTR, who said that after four years when his party regains power, the Rajiv Gandhi statue will be replaced by Telangana Thalli. He also stated that BRS would rename all locations across the state after prominent personalities from Telangana.

KTR called the ruling Congress government’s decision to erect the statue in the Secretariat as a move that would ‘hamper’ the pride and existence of Telangana. He added that the Congress will be doing a “grave injustice” to Telangana and that the BRS will rename the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad as well and it will be named after a prominent figure from Telangana.

”There are a lot of Rajiv Gandhi and Indira Gandhi statues and areas named after them in Hyderabad. The BRS did not change those; However the statue in front of Secretariat should be removed. The Congress is used to taking order from Delhi. The BRS doesn’t have any such compulsion. We will rename all the locations as soon as we come to power,” KTR remarked.

Reacting to KTR, chief minister Revanth Reddy lashed out at the former IT minister remarking that statues of those who looted Telangana in the name of a movement shouldn’t be placed in front of the secretariat.

“Do you want to remove Rajiv Gandhi’s statue from the secretariat and replace it with your father’s?” Reddy asked KTR, referring to former chief minister K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR).

Revanth dared the BRS leaders to touch the statue of Rajiv Gandhi and warned that if they continue to speak such language, Telangana would be forced to socially boycott them. The chief minister remarked that there was no place in front of the secretariat for ‘drunkards’ and ‘thieves’. CM Reddy also questioned BRS leaders why they never thought of installing Telangana Talli’s statue for ten years.

Return unused land to farmers, KTR to CM on Pharma City Project

KTR writes to CM Revanth on Pharma City

Hyderabad: Former Telangana IT and industries minister and Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) working president KT Rama Rao (KTR), on Sunday, September 15, wrote a letter to chief minister Revanth Reddy raising concerns over the lands acquired for the proposed Pharma City. The project was announced by the previous BRS government, much before the current Congress Government’s recently announced ‘Fourth city project’ in Mucherla.

In his letter, KTR raised concerns over the the Congress government allegedly scrapping the Pharma City project which was already put into work by the previous BRS government. He stated that chief minister Revanth Reddy is allegedly replacing the original project with a new ‘Fourth City’ project in Mucherla, once the Congress party came into power last year.

KTR said that the scrapping of the old Pharma City project has not only raised concerns for investors who are interested in the project, but also puts farmers whose lands were acquired by the state government for this project.

The Telangana High Court had asked the state government for clarity upon the land that was acquired for the project after hearing a plea from the farmers from Medippally. The Telangana HC had instructed the principal secretary of the Revenue department to submit detailed information by September 20, 2024.

KTR’s letter, written on the background of this issue, accused the Congress government of scaling down from the initial Pharma City project. He demanded the government to clarify what will become of the lands that were acquired initially, as the recent High Court directive prohibits those lands being repurposed for a different project.

KTR asked the CM to return the lands to the farmers, if not used according to the original plan, referring to the provisions of the Land Acquisition Act, 2013.

Hyderabad: Telangana chief minister A Revanth Reddy on Monday, September 16, unveiled the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi at the secretariat.

This event comes amid ongoing political tensions between the ruling Congress and the main opposition Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) which has been opposing it.

In August, a verbal clash erupted between chief minister Revanth Reddy and BRS working president KT Rama Rao (KTR) after Revanth announced plans to erect the statue of Rajiv Gandhi in front of the Secretariat.

The site had originally been designated for the Telangana Thalli statue by the previous BRS government, and the issue led to a heated exchange between the two leaders.

Jani Master accused of rape and criminal intimidation

Hyderabad: A zero-FIR has been filed against popular Tollywood choreographer Shaik Jani Basha alias Jani Master, by the Raidurgam police on Sunday, September 15 on charges of rape, criminal intimidation, and causing hurt to a person.

The case was registered based on a complaint lodged by a 21-year-old choreographer woman who had previously worked with Shaik Jani Basha, since 2017. According to the complaint, the accused choreographer has been sexually assaulting the victim since 2019, including forcefully coercing the victim into sex and threatening her not to tell anyone, while she was travelling for work with the accused and her parents away from her.

The complaint accuses Jani Master of multiple instances of sexual assault, public harassment, coercion to marry and convert, career threats, property damage, and criminal intimidation. The accused choreographer’s wife was also named in the complaint, accusing her of attacking the victim.

The Raidurgam police have received the complaint, registered a zero-FIR, and have transferred the case to Narsingi police station, for further investigation.

The accused choreographer known as Jani Master had gained recognition early in his career in a popular Telugu dance reality show ‘Dhee‘, and has worked as a choreographer in a list of Telugu and Tamil films. He has choreographed several viral songs including ‘Butta Bomma‘, ‘Srivalli‘, ‘Arabic Kuthu‘, ‘Kaavaalaa‘, etc.

The case is incidentally submitted in the backdrop of the South Indian film industry being shaken by the revelations of sexual assault instances in the Malayalam film industry, following the publishing of the Hema Committee report.

Several Telugu film actors and technicians have raised their concerns about sexual assault across film industries, with leading South Indian actress Samantha Ruth Prabhu demanding the establishment of a similar committee in the Telugu industry to investigate sexual violence against women in cinema.
