Apple may release HomeKit architecture in iOS 16.3 beta

Hyderabad: The Telangana Real Estate Regulatory Authority (TGRERA) ruled against the builder of the Padmasreekar Icon project in Gajularamaram, Medchal-Malkajgiri, following complaints by flat owners, including Rach Naveen Kumar. In its March 1 order, TGRERA directed the builder to pay a penalty of Rs 4.5 lakh and rectify defects in the flats within 60 days.

The complaints centered on the builder’s failure to deliver promised amenities such as a play area, gym, and multi-purpose hall, which were advertised but not provided.

Additionally, essential services like a Manjeera water connection were not made available despite commitments.

Flat owners had paid Rs 3 lakh each for amenities and were informed they would need to contribute Rs 5,000–Rs 10,000 for the water connection. However, the builder later denied this obligation.

In response, the builder claimed that buyers were fully aware of the agreement terms at the time of purchase. After reviewing evidence, TGRERA found the builder in violation of contractual obligations and ordered corrective action.

Hyderabad: Digital boards at bus stops to track location

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has issued a show cause notice to Venkata Praneeth Developers regarding their project, Praneeth Pranav Knightwoods, in Patancheru.

The notice was prompted by complaints from local landowners and farmers about illegal construction activities.

Upon inspection, GHMC officials found that the developers had encroached three meters into the nala (stormwater drain) and an additional nine meters into the nala buffer zone.

This violated urban planning regulations, as the required distance from the nala for construction is 24 meters, but only 12 meters were maintained.

Despite receiving the notice, Venkata Praneeth Developers failed to provide an adequate response, raising concerns about their compliance with legal and regulatory standards.

On March 1, GHMC reiterated its demands in a speaking order, emphasizing the need for immediate corrective action.

SC Collegium recommends elevation of Allahabad, Gujarat HC chief justices to apex court

Hyderabad: The Supreme Court has directed the Telangana government to produce the original records related to a land dispute involving 102 acres of forest land in Survey Number 201/1, located in Kalan village under Saheb Nagar, Hyderabad.

The land is claimed by the heirs of Nawab Mir Yousuf Ali Khan, Salar Jung III, who served as the Prime Minister during the 7th Nizam, Mir Osman Ali Khan’s reign.

The dispute began when the Forest Settlement Officer issued orders to transfer the land to the heirs of Salar Jung-3, prompting the Telangana government to challenge these orders in court.

The case was initially heard by the Telangana High Court, which ruled in favor of the heirs. However, the state government appealed this decision in the Supreme Court.

A bench comprising Justices Pankaj Mithal and SV Bhatti heard the appeal and ordered the state government to submit the original records related to the claim petition filed by the heirs.

The court expressed concern over the incomplete material presented and noted that decisions cannot be made without thorough documentation.

The state government’s Additional Solicitor General, Aishwarya Bhati, requested time to present arguments and assured the court that all relevant details would be provided. The hearing has been adjourned until April 8.

In a related development, the court also noted that the claim petition, which was only a page and a half long, led to a 70-page order from the High Court.

The judges questioned whether state governments sometimes attempt to obtain approval through such incomplete submissions.

Holiday declared for schools, colleges in Hyderabad on Sept 17

Hyderabad: The private schools in Telangana have proposed a fee hike of 15 percent annually and guidelines for handling fee defaulters.

In the meeting convened by the School Education Department officials, the Telangana Recognised School Managements Association (TRSMA) put forward the proposals.

Telangana private schools need to seek approval for fee hike above 15 pc

As per the proposals by the TRSMA, schools should seek approval from the fee regulation committee if they need to increase fees beyond 15 percent.

The president of the association, Sadula Madhusudhan, also agreed that there must be fee regulation to ensure that none of the schools in Telangana exploit students and parents.

Honorary president of TRSMA, S Sreenivas Reddy, claimed that every year, 10-20 percent of students in budget private schools default on fees. He further said that recommendations from political leaders and government officials for fee concessions are another concern for schools.

Categorisation of fee structures

The TRSMA further suggested categorisation of the fee structure in private schools in Telangana. It proposed separate slabs for pre-primary, primary, upper primary, and high school.

Moreover, it sought exemption from fee regulations for budget private schools that charge less than Rs 55,000 per annum.

For many years, parents of school students have been demanding fee regulation in the state as many educational institutions increase fees significantly every year.

It remains to be seen how the government will bring relief to parents of school students who are burdened by hefty fees.

Parts of Hyderabad to see water supply halt for 30 hours on August 19

Hyderabad: Residents of Hyderabad, Secunderabad, and surrounding areas are facing severe difficulties due to the prolonged delay in water supply department works. Despite the deadlines passing long ago, the projects remain incomplete, causing major inconvenience to the public.

Abdul Rawoof, a resident of Musheerabad, alleges that repeated complaints to officials about unfinished work and dug-up roads have gone unanswered. Allegations of collusion between contractors and officials suggest that negligence is being ignored, leaving residents frustrated. In many areas, development work has been pending for over six months, yet no action has been taken against those responsible.

He alleges that the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) and other departments have failed to hold contractors accountable, further delaying the projects. Even elected representatives, who had promised speedy completion, appear unable to enforce their instructions.

The lack of action raises concerns about why officials and contractors continue to ignore directives, leaving residents to suffer due to poor planning and execution.

Prajavani recieves 450 applications on Tuesday

Hyderabad: The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) is set to take strict action against those violating sanitation norms, with the launch of a mobile app for imposing fines. Those caught littering, dumping waste into nalas, throwing debris in open spaces or water bodies, or failing to maintain proper waste disposal systems will face heavy penalties.

Officials have warned that fines will range from Rs.100 to Rs.10,000, depending on the offense. Vehicles used for illegal debris dumping will be seized, in addition to penalties. Public urination and improper garbage disposal on roads will also attract fines.

This new system will ensure real-time monitoring, as GHMC officials will capture photos, upload violation details, and collect fines digitally. The corporation has also announced that sanitation violations will now be tracked online, just like traffic fines.

Builders and commercial establishments must comply with waste disposal regulations, as GHMC’s sanitation wing will work with the town planning department to crack down on offenders. Construction and demolition waste must be disposed of through GHMC’s official channels, with a tipping fee of Rs.405 to Rs.435 per tonne.

GHMC has warned citizens to follow sanitation rules or face strict legal action and hefty fines.

Lake rejuvenation across Hyderabad a priority, says HYDRAA chief

Hyderabad: The Hyderabad Disaster Response and Assets Protection Agency (HYDRAA) commissioner AV Ranganath assured on Thursday, March 6 that lake development in Hyderabad will face no obstacles. He urged corporate entities and affluent residents to contribute through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds to accelerate lake conservation efforts.

During HYDRAA Commissioner’s Ranganath visit to Khajaguda Big Tank in Nanakramguda and Ibrahimbagh Tank in Neknampur, representatives from NSL Infra and Divyashri Infra mentioned challenges affecting Khajaguda Lake’s development.

Addressing concerns, Ranganath directed irrigation officials to undertake canal diversion work to prevent sewage contamination.

At Ibrahimbagh Tank, he noted that recent encroachments had been cleared and emphasized swift action for lake restoration. Officials and residents informed him that floodwater from Hyderabad’s Durgam Cheruvu, Khajaguda Cheruvu, Malkam Cheruvu, and Filmnagar Lake flows into Ibrahimbagh, worsening pollution due to rising residential areas.

Further, locals raised concerns over sewage inflow, unpleasant odors, and mosquito infestations, requesting immediate diversion measures.

The Commissioner discussed possible interventions for the 88-acre lake, instructing irrigation officials to redirect sewage drains and consider setting up Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs). He also suggested tourism development around the lake, seeking collaboration from the tourism development organization.

HYDRAA begins work to restore 6 lakes across Hyderabad

Earlier, HYDRAA launched an ambitious project to rejuvenate several lakes across Hyderabad.

This initiative focuses on restoring vital water bodies such as Bum-Rukn-ud-Daula in Shivrampally, Thammidi Kunta in Madhapur, Sunnam Cheruvu in Guttala Begumpet, Nalla Cheruvu in Kukatpally, and Nalla/Pedda Cheruvu in Uppal. The overarching goals of this project are to improve groundwater levels, prevent urban flooding, and enhance the overall environment of Hyderabad.

Funding for the restoration efforts is being provided by the Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA).

3D development model prepared for Nalla Cheruvu

HYDRAA has set a target to complete the revival of all six lakes by June. A 3D development model has been prepared for Nalla Cheruvu in Uppal, showcasing its transformation post-restoration.

Commissioner AV Ranganath emphasized that this project is not only about reviving lakes but also about ensuring the long-term preservation of Hyderabad’s crucial water resources.

The agency’s broader vision includes expanding its reach to cover 50 percent of Telangana’s population by 2050 and establishing a new police station along with increasing its Disaster Response Force (DRF) teams.

Secunderabad colony chokes on sewage as water board, SCB officials play blame game

Secunderabad sewage

Hyderabad: Residents of Suman Housing Colony in Secunderabad’s West Marredpally have been facing hygiene issues for the last two years due to a blame game over repairs of sewage overflow between the Hyderabad Metropolitan Water and Sewerage Board (HMWSSB) and the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) authorities. The impasse has led to unhygienic conditions in the colony for the past two years.

On March 4, a major protest was held over the issue in which over 80 residents of the Suman Housing Colony took to the streets. Speaking to Siasat.com, president of the Suman Colony residents welfare association, Prakash Rao said, “The issue has been persistent for a very long time. When the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) constructed the 2 BHK houses in the nearby area, they connected the sewerage pipeline to that of ours.”

He said that the sewerage pipeline of the colony is small and has burst several times after being connected to the 2 BHK lane.

“This has caused overflow of sewage for the last two years. We have had to construct a speed breaker in order to stop the flow of sewage into our gated community,” said the joint secretary of the welfare society, Mahatma Rao Gundu.

In a strong message to the authorities, the Colony residents put up a massive board at the entrance that read “Maisamma Temple to Agra Sweet House Main road, West Marredpally, drainage problem – public suffering for last 2 years, officers please take action immediately” in bold letters.

Residents stated that they had written to the GHMC and the HMWSSB but to no avail.

Protest forces officials to respond

Following the recent protest, local MLA Sri Ganesh and officials of the GHMC, HMWSSB and SCB rushed to the spot.

A resident of the colony in the Secunderabad Cantonment, Prem Kumar, expressed concern over the hazardous impact the sewage could have on the people of the locality, especially children. “Several letters have been written to the GHMC and HMWSSB over the years. However, there is no work done to address the issue,” he said.

Another protestor who requested anonymity said, “The protest was done with the police permission, yet the police personnel tried to stop us. This is a persistent issue and we are demanding a solution to it.”

Siasat.com accessed several letters sent by the residents to the authorities, including three recent appeals addressed to the Secunderabad Cantonment Board (SCB) Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Madhukar Naik.

However, the problem remains unresolved as officials continue to pass the buck. The GHMC has denied any responsibility, stating that the matter falls solely between the HMWSSB and the SCB.

HMWSSB, SCB footballing responsibility for Secunderabad colony’s sewage overflow

While residents of the Secunderabad colony are facing issues with the sewage, the HMWSSB and SCB authorities indulged in a blame game in terms of jurisdiction. “Areas under the GHMC where the 2BHK apartments have been constructed, the sewerage line has been connected to the small pipeline of ours which is not proper. In this regard, we have written to the HMWSSB,” said Madhukar Naik, CEO of the SCB.

On the other hand, officials from the water board have denied responsibility, stating that it isn’t under their jurisdiction. “This area is under the jurisdiction of Cantonment, MLA Sri Ganesh had asked Cantonment authorities to take up the work. We were at the location for the inspection.”

Amidst this footballing of responsibility, the authorities display apathy towards the issues of the residents of the Secunderabad colony who continue to suffer for the past two years.

Falaknuma RoB

Hyderabad: The Rail over Bridge (RoB) Falaknuma will be completed within a month and it will be thrown open for public, said Mohd Mubeen, AIMIM Bahadurpura MLA.

The MLA along with the local corporators inspected and reviewed the ongoing works on the RoB late in the night. “To facilitate the construction of the bridge on the railway tracks, a few trains were cancelled or diverted from midnight to early morning hours. The works are going at a brisk pace and engineers told us it will be completed within a month,” Mohd Mubeen told Siasat.com.

The town planning department of GHMC had completed its work on both sides of the railway tracks, and the South Central Railway had to complete the part of the bridge on the railway tracks. The SCR contractor started the work on railway tracks a fortnight ago.

After the RoB works on the railway tracks are completed, the GHMC will lay a road on the bridge and it will be opened to the public, said the MLA.

AIMIM pushes for completion

In the first week of December, AIMIM president and Hyderabad MP, Asaduddin Owaisi raised the issue of incomplete Falaknuma and Shastripuram rail over bridges (RoB) during the discussion about the Railway Amendment Bill, 2024 in the Lok Sabha.

Asaduddin Owaisi described that the time taken for the RoB construction would break world records. “In my constituency, the Falaknuma RoB and the Shastripuram RoB will break the Guinness Book of (World) Records. For four years, madam, it has been pending.

Two parallel RoB were planned across the railway tracks at Falaknuma after a portion of the bridge got damaged due to heavy rains in 2020. The old bridge was renovated and opened for the public while construction of a new parallel bridge is in progress since 2022.

The traffic volume increased manifold on the Falaknuma – Barkas road in the last some years due to urbanization of the hilly terrains of Shaheennagar, Errakunta, Bandlaguda, Pahadishareef and surroundings.
